Description
The Ultramar Liberation 229 Drop Point G10 TI is a production knife made by Reate Knives in China that is modeled after the Ramon Chavez Redencion knife. The knife has a 9.2 cm blade made of M390 stainless steel that is 3.9 mm thick and features a compound grind. The blade is finished with a belt satin blade finish and a stonewashed titanium handle. The frame lock is equipped with a replaceable lockbar insert and an overtravel arrestor. The pocket clip is designed for right-handed carry and is tipped up.
Chaves Ultramar knives from Ramon Chavez are manufactured in China by Reate Knives aimed to bring his amazing knives to a wider audience base. There are a variety of different models including a production Street version of his famous Redencion knife that is iconic in the knife world. Each feels like one of his mid-tech offerings and features his signature titanium skull pocket clip. This Liberation 229 is a variation of the Redencion model but with a slenderer blade and handle profile. The slender drop point blade is paired with a squared-off G10 and titanium handle that is designed for easy carry. The frame lock features a replaceable lockbar insert and the knife is complete with a partial titanium backspacer. If Ramon Chavez has been on your wish list for a while but remains outside your price point, then check out a Chaves Ultramar. For the money, there isn't a better mid-tech type production knife that we can think of.
